Why can’t AI finish the TLL?
Why are members of the selection committee for the TLL Fellowship receiving honoraria? Shouldn’t that be part of the service that they provide gratis to the academic profession?
The selection committee has five voting members, who each receive $400 for a totalof $2,000 per year. This was at the direction of the NEH, who also stipulated thatone member should come from outside the SCS. The American Council ofLearned Societies (ACLS) has filed a lawsuit on behalf of its member organizations who have lost NEH funds, saying that proper process was not followed. The Friends believe that in maintaining the Fellowship, every NEH rule should be observed until all legal remedies have been exhausted.
